Loyola University Chicago Libraries

Theology and Religious Studies: Citing Sources

Citation Management

Our library supports RefWorks, a citation management system that allows users to create a personal database of references and generate bibliographies in a variety of formats.  You may also wish to consider Zotero, an open source citation management system that can be used within the Firefox browser or as a standalone application.  When choosing between RefWorks and Zotero, consider information provided by the libraries at North Carolina State University.  For similar, Loyola-specific information please write to me.

RefWorks has created a series of short tutorials to help you get started and learn more advanced features.  Our library offers RefWorks and Zotero workshops each semester.  Write to me for scheduled dates/times.

Style Guides and Handbooks

Copies of each of these texts are available on each floor of the Information Commons and on reserve in Cudahy Library:

The library also provides The Chicago Manual of Style as an e-book

Citing the Bible

All of the major citation styles employ special formats for citing the Bible.  A summary of the rules and examples are in a guide created by the library at Bethel College in Indiana.
