Digital Exhibit: G is for Gorey—C is for Chicago: The Collection of Thomas Michalak

The two Edward Gorey exhibits ended their run at LUMA on June 15, 2014. After the close of these exhibits, visitors can still see Gorey's work through the Loyola University Chicago Digital Special Collections.

A new digital exhibit for G is for Gorey—C is for Chicago: The Collection of Thomas Michalak will allow visitors to view additional information about the exhibit and see a few never-before-digitized items of Gorey history, such as the invitations he received for parties in high school at the Francis Parker School in Chicago. See some of his most famous illustrations of book jackets, and discover some new illustrations you may never have seen before.

The exhibit will be growing over the summer of 2014, so check back frequently for new Gorey material!

Elegant Enigmas: The Art of Edward Gorey

February 15 – June 15, 2014

Elegant Enigmas: the Art of Edward Gorey and G is for Gorey—C is for Chicago: The Collection of Thomas Michalak both provide an in-depth look at this artist whose work was known for cautionary tales, dry wit, and characters costumed in the Edwardian style. Gorey’s legacy is shown through the hundreds of original drawings, works, and illustrations, and ephemera of popular culture included in the two exhibitions.

G is for Gorey is a companion exhibition from the Thomas Michalak Collection, which was recently given to Loyola University Chicago Libraries.
