My instructor said that an assigned reading is on reserve, but it is not showing in the library catalog or Sakai! How do I access the item?
Contact the Lewis Library Course Reserves Associate for assistance. We can check to see if the item is in process.  If not, you may need to speak to your instructor.

Scanning Reserve Items

How can I scan the chapters I need to read for my class?

Students can scan chapters in the Lewis Library, there are two copiers in the 6th floor of the library. You can login with your Loyola UVID/password to e-mail scanned chapters. Or you can save the scanned chapters on a flash drive. If you are unable to come into the library you can request scanned chapters of your book through the online Interlibrary (ILLiad) form.  Scanned items are available for 30days, so make sure to save your items elsewhere.

Course Reserves

Course Reserves are course-related materials made available, either electronically or physically, through the Lewis Library. Items that may be on reserve for a class include: books, DVDs, textbooks, ebooks, and electronic articles.

Note: The Library does not have the complete collection of textbooks for the semester. Textbooks on course reserve are placed by instructors.

What are course reserves?

Course reserves are high-demand resources assigned for a specific course that are located in the library.

Articles, e-books, and streaming films on reserve are available electronically (E-Reserve).

Books, films, or other items that are not available online are placed physically "on reserve" at the Library.  These items are available behind the Circulation Desk at the Library and are available on a short loan (4 hours or 3 Days)
