This International Monetary Fund publication provides, when available, 30 years of “statistics on all aspects of  international and domestic finance.”  Categories include exchange rates, fund position, international liquidity, monetary authorities, banking, money, interest rates, prices, production, labor, international transactions, government finance, national accounts, and population.

The Statesman's year-book.

This is an excellent one-volume political and economic guide to international organizations and countries of the world.  Provides information on key historical events, territory, population, social statistics, defense, government, climate, international relations, economy, energy and natural resources, trade, communications, industry, and infrastructure.

World development indicators.

The World Bank produces this “annual compilation of data about development.” The most recent edition includes approximately “800 indicators in 87 tables, organized in six sections: World View, People, Environment, Economy, States and Markets, and Global Links.”

This World Bank publication provides a smaller, but easy to use selection of World Development Indicators.  Each year’s report analyzes a different development topic.
