Gateways is a refereed journal concerned with the practice and processes of university-community engagement. It provides a forum for academics, practitioners and community representatives to explore issues and reflect on practices relating to the full range of engaged activity.
Welcomes manuscripts based on original work with a specific focus or implication for service learning in engineering, humanitarian engineering, and social entrepreneurship, or related service learning pedagogy.
Focuses on how community-based writing projects 1) contribute to our knowledge of theories, practices, and uses of writing and rhetoric; and 2) alter traditional pedagogy and research practices of composition and rhetoric and allied fields.

Though JCC is particularly interested in work on service-learning in community colleges, articles from faculty and staff at all types of colleges and universities, as well as articles from community partners, are welcome. Journal may not currently be accepting submissions.
