How can I search for books?

Library Catalog: Look for books, DVDs, ebooks, and electronic articles at Loyola.

Browsing:

Books covering linguistics can be found under the following Library of Congress subject headings:

Books covering popular culture in the United States can be found under the following Library of Congress subject headings.

  • Mass Media and Culture -- United States
  • Public Opinion -- United States

Be sure to check the Subjects filters to find additional subject headings when using the library's catalog to search. You can also browse by Library of Congress call numbers


Where is my book?
Location details: 
  • Stacks: Your book is on a shelf in either Cudahy or Lewis.
  • Reserves: Your book is at the circulation desk of Lewis or Cudahy. 
  • Library Storage: Submit a request and someone will get it for you!
  • Reference: Your book is shelved in the reference area.

Annotated Bibliographies and Chicago Manual of Style Citations

Annotated Bibliographies

The following links provide information about creating and formatting annotated bibliographies. For additional citation and writing support, schedule an appointment with the Writing Center. The Writing Center can provide feedback and guidance for research assignments and other writing-intensive projects. 


Chicago Manual of Style Resources

Listed below are library and open web resources that provide additional information about formatting citations according to the Chicago Manual of  Style. The research assignments for this course use Chicago Manual of Style Author-Date format which means that the reference page will list the author's last and first name, followed by the publication date and other citation details. 

 

Interlibrary Loan

You may find that the library does not have the book or article you need to support your research. If this happens, you can submit an interlibrary loan request and we will get it from another library.
