Civic Leadership Academy

This guide is designed to help middle and high school students explore civic and social issues through research. Students will identify a community issue they care about —such as immigration, education, community safety, or the environment—research its impact using credible sources, identify key stakeholders. and collaboratively design and present a youth-led action or solution to raise awareness and advocate for change.

1. Identify a community issue that matters to YOU.

2. Understand how public policy affects local problems.

3. Learn how to evaluate information using the SIFT method.

4. Begin developing a youth-led action plan, which you’ll later turn into a zine or presentation.
