The Central Institute for the Union Catalogue of Italian Libraries and Bibliographic Information (ICCU) manages the online catalogue of the Italian libraries and the interlibrary loan and document delivery National services; promotes and coordinates National Census of manuscripts, of 16th Century Italian editions and of the Italian libraries; develop standards and guidelines for the cataloguing and digitization.

URBS library consortium is a non-profit cultural association with members from various academic and research institutions present in Rome, Italy and active in the field of the humanities. Their mission is to facilitate the sharing of members’ bibliographic resources and bibliographic search tools by providing, maintaining and developing a cooperative catalogue, to encourage and promote cooperative endeavors among member institutions. and with other similar research institutions which have missions analogous to our own.

The Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Roma (Rome National Central Library), in Rome, is one of two central national libraries of Italy, along with Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze in Florence.

L'Unione Romana Biblioteche Ecclesiastiche (Urbe) nasce nel 1991 ed é oggi costituita da 16 Istituzioni accademiche romane (7 Università pontificie, 1 Ateneo, 6 Istituti, 2 Facoltà) e il Centro Pro Unione.

L'Istituzione delle Biblioteche di Roma, nata nel 1996, ha unificato in un sistema le biblioteche che fino ad allora facevano capo alle relative circoscrizioni, ora Municipi.
