Ramadan Mubarak!

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic Lunar Calendar where Muslims follow the 5 pillars of Islam: Fasting, confession of faith, five daily prayers, Zakah (almsgiving) and Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca). The month is 29 or 30 days depending on the sighting of the moon. Fasting during Ramadan is the fourth pillar of Islam. It is expected to commence on March 11, until April 9, 2024.

Prayers Spaces on Campus

  • Dedicated Muslim Space for Prayer: On the second floor of Damen (235) there is a Mosque accessible to all students, providing privacy and space for ritual washing and prayers.
  • If you are at the Water Tower Campus, check out the designated prayer space in the southwest corner of the eighth floor in the Lewis Library, Corboy Law Center.

Eid al-Fitr is a 1-3 day holiday (depending on the country) that ends the Islamic month of Ramadan. Known as the "Festival of breaking fast," Muslims celebrate with family and food after the long fast, joining for prayer and other traditions.
