The field of scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL) recognizes that there is value in conducting empirical research on teaching and learning theory and teaching practice. The aim of this research is to better understand how students learn, determine impactful ways instructors can facilitate that learning, and examine the nexus of theory and practice. This collection of literature is a small sampling of the scholarship of teaching and learning.
This guide is intended to bring together foundational and contemporary literature around teaching and learning available from the Loyola Libraries. It is a tool for instructors and researchers to use to supplement their knowledge of community engaged scholarship, Ignatian pedagogy, DEI pedagogy, and the scholarship of teaching and learning more generally. It also provides links to examples of scholarship from Loyola University Chicago faculty and students. It is a collaboration of the University Libraries, the Center for Engaged Learning, Teaching, and Scholarship (CELTS), and the Faculty Center for Ignatian Pedagogy (FCIP).
These collections are a work in progress. If you identify an item which you believes belongs in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning collection, please notify the University Libraries contact below.
