The Research & Learning Department at University Libraries provide comprehensive instruction services to help students, faculty, and staff develop research skills and use information resources effectively.
If you would like to request an instruction session, please contact your Subject Specialist Librarian or submit an instruction request. We recommend submitting requests at least two weeks in advance, though we accommodate requests throughout the semester.
Subject specialist librarians collaborate with faculty to provide instruction sessions tailored to specific courses and course assignments. Course-Specific Instruction can be about enhancing research skills, such as evaluating sources, or using library resources, like subject-specific databases.
We design instruction sessions for academic programs, departments, or research projects, including graduate student orientations, faculty development training, department meetings, and special project support. We can also lead demonstrations on databases, citation managers, and other research tools.
We offer online and in-person workshops covering topics such as citation management tools, new tools and resources, and information literacy topics. View the library's event calendar for upcoming sessions and registration.
If you are interested in learning more about the library spaces and services, or if you want to learn how to navigate the stacks, library orientations and tours are available upon request. Please send your request to cud-ref@luc.edu.
Students can schedule a one-on-one research appointment with a subject specialist librarian for focused help with research strategies and project planning.
Our Research Guides provide targeted research guidance in every discipline. Faculty can request custom research guides for specific courses or projects by contacting your subject specialist.
