Our Collections Search finds materials across all Loyola libraries, including books, articles, videos, course reserves, and special collections. This discovery system searches our catalog and multiple databases simultaneously to give you comprehensive results.

You can access our Collections Search in three ways:

  • From the library homepage: Use the search bar near the top of the page with the “Search Collections” tab selected
  • From any library page: Click the magnifying glass icon in the top navigation bar to open the search overlay.
  • Direct link to Primo: Access Primo directly

What Collections Search Includes

  • Books - Both physical books you can check out and electronic books you can read online
  • Articles - Research papers published in scholarly publications
  • Course reserves - Materials your professors have set aside for specific classes
  • Videos - Educational documentaries and films you can watch online or check out on DVD
  • Historical materials - Archives, photographs, and special collections

Search for library services and help

Website Search helps you find information about the library itself rather than research materials. Use the “Search Website” tab in the search widget on the homepage, or use the direct link above to find:

  • How to get help with research
  • Library policies and rules
  • Research guides organized by subject
  • Contact information for librarians
  • Instructions for using library services

Think of it this way: Collections Search finds the materials you need for your assignment or research project. Website Search finds information about how to use the library and get help.

Browse Collections

Sometimes browsing works better than searching, especially when you’re exploring a topic or looking for inspiration. Start by walking through the library stacks - books on the same subject are shelved together, so you can discover related materials just by looking at what’s nearby. You can also browse the collections online to find similar materials.

Explore all our collections - Browse by format, subject, or location to discover resources for your research and understand what’s searchable through our discovery system.
