Each Libraries location reserves certain areas for quiet study and others for group study. Please respect others’ needs for quiet while in quiet study areas. If you are working with a group, please reserve a group study room or find an area where conversations won’t disturb others. Please also note that we do not designate areas near Libraries service desks as quiet study areas, as staff may need to hold conversations and use equipment.
Please do not make or receive telephone or video calls in study areas. Each Libraries location has designated areas where you can make or receive calls without disturbing others. Please ask at the Reference Desk or Circulation Desk for more information.
Drinks and small snacks (such as chips or fruit) are permissible in most areas. Drinks must be in spill-proof containers, such as bottles with lids or travel mugs. Meals are not permissible in any part of the library.
Food of any kind is not permissible in the Reading Rooms at Cudahy Library and Lewis Library, although beverages in appropriate containers are permissible.
Neither food nor beverages are permissible in the University Archives and Special Collections or the Women and Leadership Archives.

Information about your privacy as you use library services.
As part of our core values, the Loyola University Chicago Libraries strive to protect the privacy and dignity of our users. This policy outlines the types of information we collect, how we secure it, and your ability to limit or access that information. We securely store any personally identifiable information (PII), allow only authorized staff to access it, and do not share it except as required by law or University policy.
For detailed information about our privacy practices, see our comprehensive privacy policy.
Access to and use of Libraries electronic resources and online content is restricted to authorized users within the Loyola University Chicago community. The term “authorized users” includes people who are currently associated with Loyola University Chicago, such as faculty, staff and students.
Authorized users are responsible for using our electronic resources for individual, non-commercial use only. No one may systematically download, distribute to non-authorized users, or retain substantial portions of licensed content from our electronic resources.
Some content may be restricted by publishers to certain Loyola populations (such as department or school) or campus. Additionally, although we provide public access to some electronic resources, certain resources are not available to non-Loyola users due to publisher restrictions. Infringement of these basic restrictions may prompt a publisher to deny access to their licensed content to the entire Loyola University Chicago community.
