Borrowing & Renewals: Fines and Fees

How to check out and renew library materials, including loan periods, where to borrow items, how to track due dates, and options for renewing in person or online. Includes details for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Fines and Fees

Loyola Libraries operates under a largely fine-free policy to support your academic success without financial barriers. The Libraries does not charge fines on overdue materials, with the exception of course reserves and recalled items.

Overdue recalled materials:

  • $1.00 per day after the recall due date; $5 maximum

Lost Items

If any Libraries or Interlibrary Loan item that you borrow is more than 34 days overdue, we will suspend your borrowing privileges and automatically charge you a $100 replacement fee until you return the item. Any item on your account that receives damage may also result in a $100 replacement fee and suspended borrowing privileges.

  • Pay online

  • Pay in person at any circulation desk with cash, checks (made out to “Loyola University Chicago”), or Rambler Bucks
