One Loyola Library: Home

Task force initiative to unify Health Sciences, Law, and University Libraries into a collaborative system serving all campuses and communities.

Overview

The One Loyola Library Task Force was formed in March 2021 following the Provost’s directive to align all Loyola University Chicago Libraries into a unified One Loyola Library system. The stated goal of this alignment is to build a library structure that is more nimble; aware of the unique needs of each individual campus; and responsive to the faculty, students, and staff of today and tomorrow.

Task Force Leadership

The task force is chaired jointly by the directors of:

  • University Libraries
  • Health Sciences Library
  • Law Library

This leadership structure ensures that the unique perspectives and needs of each library system are represented in the planning process.

Task Force Composition

The membership includes representatives from across the University:

  • Every Loyola school (except for the School of Environmental Sustainability and the School of Continuing & Professional Studies)
  • Three librarians from each of the three libraries
  • Key stakeholders representing all Loyola University Chicago campuses

Our Charge

The teaching, learning, research, and work of Loyola University Chicago is supported by:

Health Sciences Campus:

  • Health Sciences Library

Lake Shore Campus:

  • Cudahy Library
  • Loyola Information Commons
  • Library Storage Facility

Rome Center:

Water Tower Campus:

  • Law Library
  • Lewis Library

In the spirit of One Loyola, and with an eye toward collaborative action in building a library structure that is nimble, aware of the unique needs of each individual campus, and responsive to today’s and tomorrow’s faculty, students, and staff, the Provost asked that this task force be formed and comprised of key stakeholders representing the Loyola University Chicago campuses.

Task force members worked together to identify needs, solicit feedback, and describe current opportunities and challenges for building a 21st-century library. The work culminated in recommendations and a vision for a Loyola University Chicago Library System.

Final Reports

The One Loyola Library task force completed their work and produced comprehensive documentation:

These reports detail the task force’s findings, recommendations for library system integration, and data-driven insights about user needs across all campuses.
