Library Services, 2023: How do I visit the library?

Overview

Library building access varies by location, so please review the information below for specific information for each location. Each location includes dates/hours of access, location, users that can access the building, and further details about visiting library buildings.

Cudahy Library and the Information Commons (Lake Shore Campus)

  • General: Cudahy Library and the Information Commons are open to Loyola students, faculty, and staff during the operating hours listed below. Information on access to these spaces for other visitors is available here.
  • Dates/Hours:

  • Fall 2023, operating hours will be the following: 
  • IC: Sunday, 10AM – 12AM; Monday-Thursday, 7AM – 12AM; Friday, 7AM – 9PM; Saturday, 8AM9PM. 

  • Cudahy: Sunday, 10AM – 12AM; Monday-Thursday, 7:30AM – 12AM; Friday, 7:30AM – 9PM; Saturday, 10AM – 6PM.  

  • Details:
  • Face masks are recommended.
  • Equipment loan pickups are located on the second floor Service Desk in the IC.
  • Individual Study Spaces (i.e. rooms or computer workstations) are by reservation only through the online reservation system made in advance or in-person.
  • Request general assistance by calling the IC Front Desk at 773.508.8355.
  • Users that have inactive Loyola IDs or trouble scanning into the IC must contact the Campus Card Office at CampusCard@LUC.edu

University Archives and Special Collections (Lake Shore Campus)

  • General: Access is by appointment only.
  • Dates/Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00AM–12:00PM and 1:00PM–4:00PM. 
  • Location: Cudahy Library, Room 217
  • Details: 
    • Appointments are required.
    • Please use the Ask the Archivist form for submitting reference questions and research appointment requests.
    • Loyola community members (faculty, students and staff) and class sessions have priority over other requests.
    • Masks are required.
    • Updated information is available at www.luc.edu/archives.

Lewis Library (Water Tower Campus)

  • General: Access to Lewis Library is available for current Loyola students, staff, and faculty with active university IDs during the operating hours listed below. Loyola alumni may enter Lewis Library by presenting their Alumni Card, and Friends of the Libraries members also have access.

  • Fall 2023, operating hours will be the following:

Lewis: Sunday, 12PM – 10PM; Monday-Thursday, 7:30AM – 10PM, Friday 7:30AM – 7PM; Saturday, 9AM – 5PM.

  • Location: Corboy Law Center - Lewis Library, Floors 6-9
  • Details:
  • Face masks are recommended.
  • Equipment loan pickups are located in room 608.
  • Individual Study Rooms are by reservation only through the online reservation system.
  • Request general assistance by calling Lewis Library at 312.915.6622.
  • Users that have inactive Loyola IDs or trouble scanning into Lewis Library must contact the Campus Card Office at CampusCard@LUC.edu.

Women and Leadership Archives (Lake Shore Campus)

  • General: In-person appointments are available to all researchers.
  • Dates/Hours: Access to the Women and Leadership Archives (WLA) is by appointment only.

Book Return Locations

Lake Shore Campus
You can return library books to the book drop located next to the west doors of Cudahy Library (across from Dumbach Hall).  When the Information Commons is open, you can use the book drop located in the foyer.  

Water Tower Campus
When the Corboy Law Center is open, you can use the book drop located in the lobby.  
 

ITS/DMS Support

  • In-person assistance with Library and Information Technology Services (ITS) is only available for Loyola students, staff, and faculty at this time.

  • For assistance with university technology and equipment loans, first visit the Digital Media Services (DMS) website. DMS only assists with technology or other equipment owned by the university. Loan pickups vary by location.

  • For assistance with personal devices or a Loyola account, contact the Information Technology Services (ITS) Help Desk at HelpDesk@LUC.edu.
